On Saturday, April 6, 51 Walden will once again be transformed into a musical cafe featuring some of the region’s best and most entertaining a cappella singers. Join us as we support Behavioral Health initiatives at Emerson Health. Make a donation or become an EmerSong Friend! Your support is required to help the Auxiliary fund important mental health projects. As a Friend, your name will be listed in the program book, on the event website, and at the event. 35th Annual Tree of Lights

For 35 years, the Auxiliary of Emerson Health has been lighting the evergreen tree outside the main entrance in honor and memory of loved ones and significant people who have touched our lives. The funds raised from this community-wide event support pediatric care at Emerson Health.

ADAPTING TO CHANGE AS YOU AGE

CONSIDERATIONS FOR POST-HOSPITALIZATION CARE

In September 2023, we hosted a webinar in partnership with the Corporators and Community Benefits on how to skillfully navigate life changes that aging might bring, specifically post-hospitalization. Topics included selecting a secondary healthcare setting versus aging in place and recovering at home with the assistance of rehabilitative services, managing and/or mishandling medication and available support for caregivers.

Supporting Good Financial Health

In January 2023, the Emerson Corporators and Auxiliary, in partnership with our community benefits program, hosted a webinar that provided information on how to support good financial health for seniors, including document, account and password organization, how to avoid financial scams, and managing medical bills.

2022 Tree of Lights Ceremony

For more than 30 years, the Auxiliary of Emerson Health has been lighting the evergreen tree outside the main entrance in honor and memory of loved ones and significant people who have touched our lives. The funds raised from this community-wide event support pediatric care at Emerson Health. In 2022, we continued that tradition with a virtual Tree of Light ceremony on December 7. A warm thank you to all who made our virtual Tree of Lights a success! We could not have done it without the support of our sponsors, donors, and community. Helping Older Adults and Caregivers Navigate Life Changes

In September, 2022, a panel of experts provided information on how to skillfully navigate life changes that aging might bring. If you or someone you care about needs support with daily living or has concerns about driving safety, we encourage you to review the recording. Navigating difficult conversations and creating a supportive emotional, physical and financial environment are key to successful life transitions. This free program was brought to you by the Corporators and Auxiliary of Emerson Health in collaboration with Emerson’s community benefits program.

WELLNESS EDUCATION EVENT: PLAY WITH YOUR FOOD!

In January, the Auxiliary hosted a virtual webinar, titled "Play with Your Food!" The discussion featured versatile recipes and ideas for maintaining meaningful family connections. Guest panelist Susanne Liebich, a certified instructor at Emerson's Steinberg Wellness Center for Mind and Body, discussed ideas for creative, playful, and safe fun for families. She introduced us to the idea of a "virtual vacation."

The ❤ of the Matter: Heart Health, Risks, Symptoms & Recovery
The Corporators & Auxiliary of Emerson Hospital, in partnership with the Sudbury Senior Center, presented a community discussion on heart health. The virtual event focused on the warning signs of cardiac distress, risk factors and prevention. Presenter Ginny Dow RN, BSN, BC, CCRP, FAACVPR, is a board-certified cardiac rehab nurse and manager of the Emerson Hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation and Prevention program. Wellness Education Event:
BALANCED AND BRIGHT, HEALTHY AND LIGHT

In November 2021, the Auxiliary hosted a virtual event in our wellness series with panelists discussing how to prepare healthy holiday meals and manage holiday stress. They also offered ways to recreate traditional holiday foods using healthy alternatives. The panel discussion focused on self-care for the holidays, stress management, and strategies to address acute and chronic stress. Click here to access a recording of the webinar.

The Campaign to Support Emerson Hospital's Behavioral Health Services in a Year of Unprecedented Storm

The Auxiliary's flagship behavioral health fundraiser, EmerSong, was cancelled in 2021 due to COVID-19. We were proud to announce Anchor Down, our fundraising appeal designed to continue this vital mission of supporting mental health services — at a time when our community needs it most. A Year of COVID-19: Checking in on the pandemic’s effects on mind and body

During the pandemic of 2020, COVID-19 has changed the way we all function on a daily basis and which has, in some cases, affected our mental and physical health. This moderated Q&A, sponsored by the Auxiliary and Corporators of Emerson Hospital, features health care clinicians discussing topics like anxiety and grief, addiction support, sleep management and self-care. Learn more about how to fight the mental and physical fatigue during the time of COVID-19.

 

Healthy Eating & Lifestyle Webinar Series

Beginning in the fall of 2020, the Auxiliary began hosting virtual panel discussions focused on wellness. The first was Fall into Wellness: Eating with the Season in Mind, which included an Emerson primary care physician, a licensed dietician and a local chef sharing tips and recipes designed to support your immune system through the fall and winter. That following January, they hosted Fresh Start: Starting 2021 with Healthy Habits. Panelists offered suggestions for healthy snacks, comfort foods, and lifestyle changes, as well as ways to stay active and exercise at home during the winter. The Connect Effect: Loneliness Webinars

In 2020, the Auxiliary partnered with Emerson's corporators to host two webinars focused on loneliness. Panelists included clinicians and community leaders who spoke about the need to combat feelings of isolation while creating healthy social connections for seniors, parents and children.
