About Emerson

Emerson Hospital is a full-service, non-profit community hospital conveniently located on Route 2 in historic Concord, Massachusetts. Founded in 1911, today Emerson is a 177-bed hospital which provides advanced medical services to more than 300,000 individuals in 25 towns.

With more than 280 primary care doctors and specialists on the active medical staff, Emerson physicians provide everything from anesthesiology to vascular surgery.

The hospital is well known for its outstanding nursing care and patient-centered facilities including the Birthing Center and special care nursery. A Level II Special Care Nursery enables us to care for moderately ill newborns. It is the only special care nursery in the area, which provides 24-hour in-house coverage by pediatricians and anesthesiologists.

In 1997, Emerson opened the Bethke Cancer Center. The spacious light filled Center was designed to meet the needs of each cancer patient, offering a wide range of medical specialists including medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons and other clinicians. The Emerson Hospital-Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Radiation Oncology Program -- housed within the Bethke Cancer Center -- is staffed by experts from both hospitals and brings the expertise of the MGH to Concord.

Emerson's core mission has always been to make high quality health care more accessible to those who live and work in its service area. To further this mission, Emerson has outpatient facilities in the towns of Westford, Groton and Sudbury.

While Emerson provides all of the services that most patients will ever need, the hospital's strong relationships with the downtown academic medical centers ensures that our patients have access to world class resources.
