Philip W. Cheney is a resident of Concord with extensive experience in the application of leading-edge technology to complex engineering problems. At the time of his retirement from Raytheon, then the nation’s third-largest defense company, he was vice president of engineering and quality management, focusing on Raytheon’s extensive independent and US government-sponsored research and development activities. Dr. Cheney is a member of the faculty at Northeastern University in Boston. He lives in Concord.

Gloria Clough is a clinical specialist in psychiatric and mental health with a private practice in Concord. She received her RN from the Roger Williams General Hospital School of Nursing and her MS in nursing from Boston College. She also holds a BS with a concentration in psychology from St. Joseph’s College and a masters of divinity from the Weston Jesuit School of Theology. Ms. Clough established the first chaplaincy program at Emerson in 1991 and served from 1991 – 1995. She is a resident of Concord.

Jonathan D. Donaldson is resident of Lincoln and a healthcare consultant at Surgical Sealants in Woburn. Previously he was with MedChem Products, Inc. as president and CEO; and at Harbridge House, Inc. as a partner in the financial services division. He is a director of three private companies and one public company, chairman of the Lincoln Conservation Commission; and an active alumni fundraiser for Harvard University and the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth.

Rose Ann Giordano is an Acton resident and is a self-employed high tech consultant. She formerly served as vice president of Worldwide Sales and Marketing for Compaq Computer’s Customer Services Division and had a 19-year career in management with Digital Equipment Corporation. At Digital, Ms. Giordano was the first woman vice president and corporate officer. She serves on the board of directors of TimeTrade Inc., the MIT Enterprise Forum and serves on the Advisory Board of the National Association of Corporate Directors.

Eric R. Haartz is CEO of Haartz Corporation, an Acton-based manufacturer of engineered coated materials for the automotive and marine industries. A resident of Concord, he is involved with the Middlesex West Chamber of Commerce School-Business Partnership Committee. Mr. Haartz is also active in the Horseless Carriage Car Club of California and the Museum of Transportation in Brookline.

Winston R. Hindle, Jr. is a Concord resident and a retired senior vice president of Digital Equipment Corporation. He joined Digital in 1962 as assistant to the president and founder, Kenneth Olsen. A graduate of Amherst College, he received his master’s degree from MIT Sloan School. Mr. Hindle is a member of the Business Advisory Council of Carnegie Mellon’s School of Industrial Administration, a Trustee of the Concord Museum, a member of the Commercial Club of Boston and is a former chairman of the board of trustees of Wheaton College.

Mary B. Johnson is a Concord resident and former manager of the Mary Curtis Shop in Concord. She has served as an Emerson corporator and volunteered for the Hospice and Aftercare Programs. Long active for local non-profit organizations including the Chamber of Commerce and the Concord-Carlisle Community Chest, Ms. Johnson is currently a member of the board of the Concord Council on Aging and the Leadership Team to prevent domestic violence in Concord.

Ronald H. Johnson is a Westford resident who is retired as executive vice president of PhotoMetrics Inc. in Woburn. Long active in the civic affairs of Westford, he has served as a member of the School committee, Board of Selectman, Finance Committee, and Zoning Board of Appeals. Mr. Johnson is also a Director of the American Lung Association of Middlesex County.

Joan Burden Litle is a Concord resident and is the founder and president of The Catalog Connection, a merchandise and creative consulting firm specializing in the direct mail consumer catalog and on-line markets. Ms. Litle started her career with Talbots and was president of Clymer’s of Bucks County, a national gift catalog. She is an active participant in the direct marketing industry and a frequent speaker on catalog merchandising and creative approaches. She has taught at New York University, is a member of the Direct Marketing Association and sits on several boards.

John M. Lowe III is assistant professor of Health Care Administration at Simmons College Graduate School of Health Studies. A graduate of Duke University, he earned his MS in Health Services Administration from Ohio State University, and his PhD in Public Policy Analysis from the School of Urban Planning and Policy at the University of Illinois (Chicago). Currently he is a member of the Education Task Force of the Massachusetts Council for Quality and of the Social Action Committee of the First Parish of Concord. He is a resident of Concord.

John Magee is the former chairman of the board of Arthur D. Little, Inc. He is a founding member and former president of the Operations Research Society of America (ORSA) and is also a past president of the Institute of Management Sciences. He has a BA from Bowdoin College, an MBA from Harvard University, and an MA in mathematics and economics from the University of Maine. Mr. Magee has served as a director of Houghton Mifflin Co., and John Hancock Mutual Life, and is a trustee emeritus and former chair of Bowdoin College. He is trustee and governor of New England Aquarium, and chairman of the board of Trustees of Thompson Island Outward Bound Education Center. He is a longtime Concord resident.

William G. Mallon is a managing director of New Star Financial, Inc and a resident of Concord. Previously, he was a senior credit officer at Fleet National Bank (now Bank of America). He has also held various posts at Shawmut National Corporation, Boston; Chemical Bank, New York City; and Mellon Bank, Philadelphia. A graduate of Boston College and Fordham University School of Law, Mr. Mallon is a member of the Bar in New York State.

Mary Newman is a community volunteer from Lincoln. She is a trustee of WGBH and the Boston Symphony Orchestra, an overseer at the Museum of Fine Arts, and was chairman of the trustees of the Lincoln Library. Her late husband Robert B. Newman was a co-founder of Bolt, Beranek & Newman. Mrs. Newman is a graduate of Smith College.

Stephen G. Pearse of Concord is principal of Yucatan Rock, Inc., an angel investment firm and start-up consultant. He is an entrepreneur who has been in the senior management of telecommunications firms including Cyras Systems, Inc., Bay Networks, Inc./Nortel Networks, and Time Warner Communications. Mr. Pearse is an advisor for Prajnopaya Foundation, a worldwide philanthropic group that supports TB clinics in India.

Fontaine K. Richardson is a consultant and private investor and resides in Carlisle. He was a general partner of Eastech Management Company, a manager of venture capital funds, and a co-founder of Applicon Inc., an early provider of CAD/CAM products. He serves on the Board of Directors of Mentor Graphics Corporation (Oregon) and Banyam Systems and is a Director and Treasurer of the Carlisle Conservation Foundation and Carlisle Land Trust.

Ian Crocker Sanderson is managing director of Institutional Research for SG Cowen Securities Corporation and is the Senior Equity Research Analyst for Pharmaceuticals. He has been recognized by Institutional Investor as a member of the Analyst All-Star Team for Specialty Pharmaceuticals. Mr. Sanderson is a graduate of Williams College and received his MBA from The Wharton School.

Jon W. Way, MD is a Stow resident and an internist on the staff of Acton Medical Associates. He served on the hospital’s Medical Executive Committee as chairman of the Department of Medicine and has also been chairman of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. Dr. Way was a member of the Concord Board of Selectman and also served on the board of the Concord Museum and Concord Assabet Family and Adolescent Services.

D. Elliott Wilbur was a consultant with Arthur D. Little for 30 years where he retired as the senior vice president of the North American Management Consulting Directorate. He is associated with the Executive Service Corps of New England (ESC) one of the largest management support organizations for New England non-profits for whom he also served a term as a member of its board of directors. Mr. Wilbur has been active in town government in Concord serving on the Concord Housing Authority and as a member of the Board of Selectmen (1988 – 1994). He is a graduate of Haverford College and lives in Concord.

Byron E. Woodman, Jr. is an attorney with Woodman & Eaton, P.C. in Concord. He graduated from Boston University School of Management and Suffolk Law School and received his master of laws in taxation at Boston University Law School. He has served as treasurer of the Concord-Carlisle Parents Association, trustee and treasurer of the Fenn School and president of the Community Agency Corporation. He is currently chairman and trustee of the Concord Carlisle Scholarship Fund and is a director of Cambridge Trust Company. Mr. Woodman lives in Concord.

Alan C. Woodward, MD is an emergency services physician at Emerson Hospital and former president of the Massachusetts Medical Society. He has held many leadership positions in his specialty of emergency medicine, including president of the Massachusetts College of Emergency Physicians (MACEP), and membership in the House of Delegates of the American College of Emergency Physicians. At Emerson Hospital, Dr. Woodward has been chief of emergency services and served as president of the medical staff from 2001 to 2003. He resides in Concord.


Michael J. Zak – Michael is a general partner at Charles River Ventures, where he serves as the principal sponsor for investments in a number of information technology markets. In 2002, he was recognized as the Venture Capitalist of the Year by the Massachusetts Telecommunications Council. He has a BS degree in engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Michael has served as a board member of a foundation affiliated with his alma mater.
