OB/GYN joins Emerson Hospital

(CONCORD, Mass., September 3, 2008)--Obstetrician/gynecologist Richard Rubin, MD, recently joined Emerson Hospital.

A physician at Concord OB/GYN Associates, Dr. Rubin earned his medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. He completed his residency at University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology, he is a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners. Dr. Rubin’s clinical interests include general and high-risk obstetrics and minimally-invasive approaches to surgery. He was part of the team that started the Robotic Gynecologic Surgery Program at Concord Hospital in New Hampshire, where he performed a less invasive approach to difficult hysterectomies using the da Vinci robot. He was also an adjunct assistant professor at Dartmouth Medical School.

Dr. Rubin joins Emerson as the hospital unveils its new postpartum wing, part of a $36-million initiative that will enhance the patient experience in three key areas: surgery, obstetrics and interventional radiology. The new postpartum unit combines more than 14,000 square feet of new construction and renovation. New mothers will enjoy private rooms, which were designed with attention to feng shui principles, like color, sunlight and mood, to create a soothing environment ideal for a family to spend time after the birth of a baby.

“I am very excited about joining Concord OB/GYN,” said Dr. Rubin. “I have already felt a warm reception from everyone in the office. After working at Emerson Hospital since early August, I can say that they do a wonderful job for our expectant parents going through the childbirth experience.”

Prior to joining Emerson Hospital, Dr. Rubin practiced obstetrics and gynecology at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Concord and Concord Hospital, both in Concord, N.H.

Dr. Rubin is accepting new patients. To schedule an appointment, call 978-369-7627.
