Emerson Hospital medical staff leadership changes

(CONCORD, Mass., November 28, 2007)--David Rose, MD, chair of the radiology department at Emerson Hospital, was elected to a two-year term as president of the medical staff.

In his role, Dr. Rose will represent Emerson physicians, acting as their liaison in working with hospital leadership and the community. He will oversee educational activities of the medical staff, coordinate quality assurance functions and report to the Board on the performance of the medical staff.

Dr. Rose has been a physician at Emerson since 1999. He received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and completed his residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He also completed fellowship training in mammography at Brigham and Women’s and in oncoradiology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Dr. Rose is board-certified in radiology. He lives in Sudbury with his wife and four children.

In other leadership changes, on the executive committee, Greg Catalano, DPM, will assume the role of secretary and Betty Pomerleau, MD, will act as treasurer.

New department chairs, who will serve a three-year term, include Paul Lysiak, MD, chair of pathology, and Robert Stern, MD, chair of psychiatry.

New service chiefs, who also serve a three-year term, include Sam Bagchi, MD, (hospitalist); John Blute, MD, (orthopedics); Eileen Deignan, MD, (dermatology); Kieran Dowd, DMD, (dental); Paul LaFontaine, MD, (urology); Jeffrey Smith, MD, (plastic surgery); Agnes Virga, MD, (neurology); and Brian Zinsmeister, DPM, (podiatrics).

Finally, effective February 2008, Paul D’Ambrosio, MD, will serve as delegate to the Board.
