Emerson Hospital diabetes program offers two-part diabetes education series
(CONCORD, Mass., August 27, 2008)--Emerson Hospital will offer a free, two-part diabetes education series this fall for people who inject insulin three or more times per day and who are considering the transition to an insulin pump.
The first session will provide an overview of the skills required to master a pump. The second session will feature representatives from major pump companies. They will demonstrate their products and answer questions. There will be time in both sessions to answer participant questions.

Information session for people considering the transition to an insulin pump. Following opening comments from endocrinologist Dr. Aldona Finkle, each pump representative will talk about his/her product and features. Participants will have an opportunity to watch pump demonstrations, handle equipment, and ask questions.
Today’s insulin pumps have a variety of features, including tubing, no tubing, and communication between glucose meter and pump. Participants are welcome to compare pump features and select the device that best suits their needs.
