Emerson Hospital corporators play an important role in connecting residents of our community to the hospital. Their activities range from supporting grassroots promotion of hospital services to serving as a ready source of volunteers to fit the hospital’s many needs, from governance to resource development. Below are recent corporator updates.
Greetings from Chris Schuster, President and CEO
Our long, snowy winter finally came to an end! We held our twice-rescheduled Emerson Health Care System Annual Meeting in April. Many of you appreciated coming out in the nicer weather, so we are now considering holding the annual meeting in early spring. The meeting drew an impressive number of attendees and, most important, we welcomed 20 new corporators to the Emerson family.
We have had several successful events in recent months. First, the Timeless Treasures Tour, an antique appraisal fundraiser presented by the Emerson Hospital Auxiliary, was a big hit in March. Our annual 5K Run~Walk for Cancer broke all records. We had 550 participants, 100 volunteers, 25 sponsors and grossed $90,000 (our goal was $75,000). Thanks to all who helped us continue to provide compassionate and state-of-the-art cancer services to our patients.
We have plenty of excitement coming this fall, including the dedication of the new Clough Family Center for Rehabilitative and Sports Therapies, which includes the Dr. Robert C. Cantu Concussion Center. The September dedication event for donors will be held at our new facility at 300 Baker Avenue. I look forward to seeing you there.
Have a wonderful summer!
