10/1/09: 11th annual Auxiliary golf tournament raises $55,000
The Emerson Hospital Auxiliary recently hosted its 11th annual golf tournament at the Nashawtuc Country Club. The event, which raised $55,000, was again sold out with 130 participants. The last 11 tournaments raised more than $750,000 to fund important Auxiliary-sponsored programs at Emerson Hospital.
This year, there was one Platinum sponsor, Donoghue, Barrett & Singal, and three Gold Level sponsors, the DiGiovanni Family, MIG Corporation, and Sodexo. A live auction was hosted by volunteer Frank Paparello, featuring rounds of golf, wine baskets, sports tickets, and gift certificates.
“This is unquestionably the Auxiliary’s most important fundraising event of the year and was a tremendous success,” said Denise Haartz, president of the Emerson Hospital Auxiliary. “Golfers get the opportunity to enjoy one another, golf on a premier course, and—most of all—get the pleasure of contributing to a very worthwhile cause.”
Many volunteers coordinated the event, including committee members Priscilla Gannon and Denise Haartz who co-chaired the effort, and Cato Anderson, Tony Baudanza, Leslie Cheney, Jan Kenneally, Anne Lehmann, Karen McCarthy, Janine Papesh, Melissa Saalfield, and Mary Rose Sykes.
