9/18/12: Emerson Hospital Holds Flu Clinic for Carlisle Seniors on Oct. 22
Influenza is a serious disease that can lead to hospitalization and sometimes even death. In fact, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends a flu vaccine each year because flu viruses are constantly changing and the body’s immunity to influenza viruses decline over time.
People at highest risk of developing serious complications from influenza include people 65 and older, pregnant women and those with medical conditions including asthma, diabetes and chronic lung disease.
Emerson Hospital Home Care has joined with local boards of health and councils on aging to offer local influenza vaccination clinics. Carlisle residents 65 and older may receive an influenza immunization on Monday, Oct. 22, 10 a.m. to noon, at Carlisle Town Hall located at 66 Westford St. in Carlisle.
