6/21/12: Emerson Hospital Welcomes Father’s Day Baby
After Billerica resident Annie Gerrard’s due date came and went on June 13, she joked with her husband, Keith Gerrard, that the new due date for their first baby would be Father’s Day. Proving that mother knows best, Keira Dawn was born at 11:42 a.m. on June 17, weighing 8 pounds, 4 ounces.
Keith said he was “overjoyed” to celebrate Father’s Day with his little girl. “The fact our daughter is here at all is really the gift,” said Keith, noting that she already has a fan club at the hospital, “but having her on Father’s Day is very meaningful. There’s nothing like a father-daughter relationship.”
“We’re so happy. Keith is such a natural,” Annie said. “Just seeing his face and knowing he’s a dad was very special. It was quite a first Father’s Day.”
Keira was delivered by obstetrician Ingrid Balcomb, MD of AFA Obstetrics & Gynecology, P.C. in Concord and Westford.
“I call Emerson the Four Seasons of birthing. Everyone is so nice and supportive; all the nurses, midwives and our doctor helped us through every stage of the process, so we felt taken care of,” Annie added. “I didn’t feel like people were telling me what to do. I felt like we were in this together to bring this healthy baby girl into the world.”
