12/3/12: Emerson Hospital Offers Personalized Assessment and Conditioning Clinic for Runners
Don’t let the cold weather alter your fitness goals! Emerson Hospital is offering two reasons for runners to embrace the winter season.
On Saturday, Jan. 26, a sports medicine physical therapist will provide free, one-on-one assessments including strength and flexibility testing, lower extremity biomechanical analysis, footwear fit and running analysis. Participants should wear comfortable clothing, preferably shorts and their running shoes.
The screenings, which are designed to prevent injury and improve performance, are appropriate for beginner to advanced runners. Appointments are required and begin at 12:00 p.m. at Emerson Hospital Health Center, 133 Littleton Road in Westford. To register, call (978) 589-6850.
In addition, the Emerson Hospital Center for Sports Rehabilitation and Specialty Services is hosting a series of classes teaching running-specific strength and flexibility exercises proven to reduce injury and improve performance. Designed by a physical therapist, the running conditioning clinic takes place on Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., for eight sessions beginning Jan. 28, 2013 at Emerson Hospital Health Center, 133 Littleton Road in Westford. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and sneakers and bring an exercise mat.
The cost is $150, and enrollment is limited. To register, call (978) 589-6850.
