7/20/10: Concord piano teacher shares artistic talent in Emerson Hospital exhibition
Linda Grom is an accomplished piano teacher in Concord, where she has lived with her family for many years. During a career as a music educator, she began to compose music. Several of her works were published, including choral works set to poems of Ralph Waldo Emerson.
The creative awakening of composing led her to a desire to try painting. She attended art classes and studied at the Cotuit Center for the Arts, the Provincetown Museum School, and the DeCordova Museum School, where she developed a passion for painting. “It was the missing piece in my life for which I was searching,” said Grom.
Starting August 17, her paintings will be displayed at Emerson Hospital in an art show sponsored by the Emerson Hospital Auxiliary. A complete resume and examples of her work can be found on her website at www.lindagrom.com.
Grom feels that painting, composing, and teaching piano all share the same creative process and are all extensions of deep emotions—an interconnectedness with energies that exist within all aspects of life and forms of nature. In particular, she enjoys painting outside where wind, sunlight, and the sounds of nature influence the colors, textures, and movement of her work.
