3/27/09: Emerson Hospital hosts gala to benefit Bethke Cancer Center
Emerson Hospital will host a dinner dance at The Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel on Friday, May 8, 2009. The gala, titled Rays of Light, will benefit Emerson Hospital’s Bethke Cancer Center and is part of a larger $4-million fundraising initiative.
Emerson Hospital will raise funds to name the newly-expanded and enhanced patient waiting area within the Bethke Cancer Center. The hospital will also redevelop patient care areas within the radiation oncology unit and construct a shielded vault to house a new linear accelerator, the centerpiece of radiation therapy. In addition, Emerson will build a new infusion center on the connecting floor between the Bethke Cancer Center and the hospital's main building.
The band NightShift will lend its musical talents to the gala. Attendees can also enjoy a gourmet meal and enter a raffle to win prizes, including a week’s stay at a vacation home in Rhode Island, two lower-level 50-yard line Patriots tickets, an autographed Carl Yastrzemski bat, and a Christmas week stay in a four-bedroom condominium at Jay Peak in Vermont.
At the heart of Emerson’s comprehensive cancer program is the Bethke Cancer Center, which combines talented cancer specialists and state-of-the-art technology in a convenient, comfortable setting. The Bethke Cancer Center is committed to providing compassionate and supportive care for patients and their families. By partnering with Massachusetts General Hospital, the Center is able to provide the latest, highest-quality treatment close to home and family.
The major benefactor of this year’s event is Delphi Construction. Tickets to the gala cost $250. For ticketing information, call 978-287-3084 or send an email.
