8/16/11: Kristen Donovan art displayed by Emerson Hospital Auxiliary
From August 15 through October 17, 2011, the Emerson Hospital Auxiliary will display art by Kristen Donovan of Stow, Mass.
Donovan is a graduate of Boston College with a degree in studio art and art history. A classically-trained artist, Kristen studied from age six under Jean and Henry Lee. As well as being a professional artist, Donovan enjoys teaching art in her studio and at the Council on Aging in Stow, where she shares her talents with seniors.
Donovan’s newest collection, “The Harvest,” was inspired by a summer project that she worked on with her three children. The family collected surplus vegetables from local farm stands and washed, bagged, and delivered them to seniors in their town. “I was so touched by the experience,” said Donovan. “I was able to watch my kids’ excitement as they made lifelong friends with some really wonderful seniors. I was also amazed at the generosity of the farmers. They were always ready with an abundance of vegetables to donate. My artistic inspiration came from the beautiful fruits and vegetables and the way the farmers displayed their harvests on their stands.”
Donovan has displayed her art in several gallery shows, and her work is in many private collections. Her next show will be at the State House in Boston.
