7/15/10: Emerson Hospital Auxiliary event “blooms” with success

The Emerson Hospital Auxiliary recently held their “Reflections in Bloom” event, which was hosted by Larry and Kimberly Powers of the Powers Gallery—a distinctive art resource located in Acton.  The evening included artwork, floral creations, music, and hors d’oeuvres.

Spring was in full bloom with fresh floral creations by local designers inspired by the gallery’s latest fine art collection.  Concord artist and honorary chair Christal Bjork was one of the featured artists.  Guests also had the unique opportunity during the event to watch artists Maris Platais and Harley Bartlett create original works of art.  Two lucky raffle winners went home with the finished paintings.

Music was provided by Sean Winkler, Laura Finkelstein, and Jeff Leiserson of Trio Cordefiato. Twin Seafood of Concord provided the raw bar.

The event committee, including Christal Bjork, Patti Foye, Priscilla Gannon, June Halio, Rosina Harlem, Anne Lehmann, Larry Powers, Kristen Rivard, Karen Shea, and Maryrose Sykes, donated many hours to this event.  Special thanks to co-chairs Karen McCarthy and Anna Travias who were tasked with overseeing the event.

Floral arrangements were conceived by a talented group of floral designers, including Lisa Bohne of Lavender in Groton; Maureen Christmas and Jennifer Eaton of Girards of Lincoln; Kris Gurall, Betsey Levering, Laura Lindop, Karen Maines of Vanash Florals in Acton; Barbara Morse of Rooms and Blooms in Acton; Linda O’Neil of Landscapes by Linda in Acton; Rebecca Purcell, Janet Richards, Michael Spanos of Floral Arts in Westford; and Charity Tremblay.

The Powers Gallery donated 20% of the evening’s sales to the Emerson Hospital Auxiliary programs.  Proceeds from the event benefited many hospital programs, including the Bethke Cancer Center, cardiac rehabilitation, nursing education, the pediatric intervention team, specialized transport equipment, and more.

The Emerson Hospital Auxiliary supports the hospital’s community awareness, patient support, and fundraising activities.  Anyone interested in becoming a member or learning about the Auxiliary should contact Karen McCarthy at 978-371-2133.
