2/7/11: Stow Council on Aging shares artistic talent at Emerson Hospital
The Stow Council on Aging art class is a group of seniors whose art is influenced by their diverse experiences and backgrounds. Serious about their artistic growth, they strive to perfect their technical skills and enhance their artistic expression. From February 15 - April 1, 2011, their work will be displayed at Emerson Hospital in an art show sponsored by the Emerson Hospital Auxiliary.
Their teacher, Kristen Holt Donovan, is a classically-trained artist. She has challenged them to take risks in their art—by introducing them to many different artistic mediums and techniques. Donovan teaches with enthusiasm and love for art and for her students. The class has been involved in the study of artists and art movements, art history discussions, and they have gone on museum trips together. “They have grown from being a group of individuals working toward individual goals into a group of lifelong friends,” said Donovan.
The Emerson Hospital Auxiliary supports the hospital community awareness, patient support, and fundraising activities. Anyone interested in becoming a member or learning about the Auxiliary should contact Karen McCarthy at 978-371-2133. Visitors to the hospital may purchase the photographs, and 25% of the sale price goes to the hospital.
