12/21/10: Photographer shares talent in exhibition at Emerson Hospital
As a native New Englander and resident of Groton, Mass., Robert Bicknell has had a lifelong love of both photography and the outdoors. His photography is on display at Emerson Hospital from December 15, 2010, through February 15, 2011. His work blends the best of traditional film and digital photography. Earlier images were captured on 35mm transparency film and transferred by high-resolution scans to digital files. More recently, Bicknell has captured images using a pro-level DSLR. From these images, he then produces beautiful archival-quality photographs and note cards. Mountain sunrises, flowers with raindrops, and old New England churches are some of his favorite subjects. For Bicknell, the two most important rules of photography are “lighting is everything,” and “you have to be there.”
Bicknell is an active member of the Nashoba Valley Photo Club, where he is a past vice president, and the Manchester Artists Association in Manchester, N.H. His work has been published in several books, including “Barn Again” (Schiffer Publishing, 2010). He exhibits and sells his work at several art shows throughout New England. In addition, his work is regularly on display and available for sale in several area gift shows, galleries, and restaurants. For more examples of his work, visit www.robertbicknellphoto.com.
The Emerson Hospital Auxiliary supports the hospital through community awareness, patient support, and fundraising activities.
