Hand Surgery


Emerson’s orthopedic hand specialists treat all upper extremity injuries and use a multidisciplinary approach that includes therapy and surgery.

Physicians at Emerson’s Bone and Joint Center offer a full range of diagnostic and treatment services for hand and wrist problems. The center also includes specialists in spine and podiatry surgery, sports medicine and rheumatology. Bone and Joint Center physicians are located at Emerson’s Center for Specialty Care in Concord as well as in individual offices throughout the area.

Hand and wrist surgeons at Emerson treat:

Anesthesia

Orthopedic surgeons work closely with Emerson’s expert anesthesiologists, who provide clinical anesthesia services for patients. Available at the hospital 24 hours a day, anesthesiologists also consult on pain management for those with chronic pain.

Diagnosis

Emerson offers advanced imaging technology such as MRI, CT scan and nuclear medicine in the Yeatts Radiology Center to aid in the accurate diagnosis of orthopedic conditions.

If surgery is necessary, Emerson offers a wide range of orthopedic surgery procedures including minimally invasive surgery.

Care after surgery

In addition to skilled and experienced orthopedic surgeons, Emerson offers comprehensive support services for orthopedic surgery patients. If your surgery requires a hospital stay, you will be cared for by the hospital’s highly regarded nursing staff, many of whom have special training in pain management—an important aspect of orthopedic care. Emerson offers classes that can help people prepare for surgery. The Prepare for Surgery, Heal Faster Workshop teaches mind-body techniques to engage the body’s natural healing processes. Program participants report less pain, fewer complications and faster recoveries.

Emerson also offers a wide range of community health and wellness programs and classes that can help participants learn about maintaining health or manage the stress associated with illness. A variety of stress reduction programs use approaches including mindfulness training, yoga and meditation, Tai Chi, Reiki and Qigong.
