Pulmonary Medicine
Emerson’s pulmonary medicine and respiratory care department offers comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, education and rehabilitative services for a full range of respiratory conditions.
Diagnosis
Diagnostic procedures performed in the pulmonary medicine and respiratory care department include:
- Pulmonary function testing
- Asthma challenge testing
- Cardiopulmonary exercise testing
- Bronchoscopy
- Evaluations at the Sleep Disorders Center
Our services include also include an evaluation to assess the severity of asthma.
Treatment
Our pulmonary rehabilitation program emphasizes education and increasing exercise capacity in patients with:
- Emphysema
- Pulmonary fibrosis
- Other respiratory disorders

Emerson offers a wide range of community health and wellness programs and classes designed to support patients with a wide range of health issues. Programs for patients with pulmonary and respiratory illness include a Better Breathers Club and Sleep Disorders Support.
