Urogynecology (Female Incontinence)
Emerson Hospital’s urogynecologists treat women with a variety of pelvic floor dysfunctions. They use the most advanced nonsurgical and surgical techniques to treat urinary incontinence, urinary urgency, bladder pain and problems of vaginal and uterine support.
Treatment methods include:
- Pelvic exercises
- Physical therapy – Emerson’s pelvic health clinic at the Center for Sports Rehabilitation and Specialty Services
- Electrical stimulation
- Hormone replacement therapy
- Surgery – 30-minute outpatient procedure known as suburethral sling is a highly effective treatment for incontinence
- Medication to control overactive bladder and infections
