Auxiliary

Since its founding in 1924, the Emerson Hospital Auxiliary has been committed to supporting Emerson Hospital and its mission of providing the highest quality medical services in a warm and personalized community setting.

Our members come from the many communities served by the hospital. We work to promote Emerson Hospital through increased community awareness, health-related education and fundraising initiatives. Auxiliary members are proud to continue the tradition of serving as ambassadors between the hospital and its communities.

Making a Difference

Over the past decade, the Auxiliary's fundraising efforts have helped to raise more than $1.5 million for hospital equipment, facilities and services. Here is a summary of recent contributions.

  • A new waiting room for oncology patients and their families
  • Equipment for the breast stereotactic exam room
  • A fund for cancer programs to benefit patients
  • A scholarship fund for frontline caregivers
  • An Advanced Life Support vehicle
  • Renovation of Special Care Units

What We Do

The Auxiliary supports Emerson Hospital through a wide variety of activities ranging from more intimate members-only gatherings to large events open to the public. We organize fundraising events, make crafts, play golf, cook, coordinate art exhibits and concerts, speak in public, write articles and welcome new ideas for community involvement.

Community

Auxiliary members are an important liaison between the hospital and the community. We want to inform and increase community awareness of hospital services through local events, newsletters, media announcements and personal communications with friends, neighbors and colleagues. We also welcome feedback and input about the hospital, its services and the health interests of our constituents. We aim to be the voice of the communities serviced by Emerson Hospital.

Education

The Auxiliary educates the public about health-related issues through its community health lecture series. These seminars, held free of charge at Emerson Hospital, provide information on a wide range of medical topics. Auxiliary members contribute to the lecture series by sharing health topics of interest, arranging meetings with the health care lecturers, introducing speakers and providing feedback.
