Complementary Therapies

Supportive care—treatment that addresses the symptoms of the cancer itself or treatment side effects—is an important part of a patient’s overall treatment plan. Complementary therapies may play a role in addressing nausea, pain and fatigue and in bolstering the immune system. Patients who are eager to combine acupuncture, yoga, reiki, herbs or other techniques with their cancer treatment plan are encouraged to speak with their Emerson physician, who can make a referral, including to a certified, on-site acupuncturist.
