Surgery
Day of Surgery
You should bring the following with you:
- Insurance cards or forms and a picture ID/drivers license
- Contact lens container (if you wear contact lenses)
- A list of medications including dose and frequency that you are currently taking.
We suggest that you wear loose, comfortable clothing and low heeled shoes which will make it easier to dress following surgery. If you are having hand or foot surgery, you will be required to remove all jewelry and nail polish (including artificial and acrylic nails).
Once you have registered, you will be escorted to the preoperative area where your pulse, temperature, respiration and blood pressure will be taken. You will be asked to change into a gown provided by the hospital. Your clothes will be placed in a secured area until you are ready to be discharged. The anesthesiologist and your surgeon will see you before your surgery. Family members are welcome to wait in our family waiting area where a member of the volunteer staff will keep them informed of your condition.
