Dermatology
The dermatology staff at Emerson Hospital include experienced surgeons who specialize in the treatment of skin cancer, conditions of the mucous membranes and selected cosmetic procedures. They use laser technology, phototherapy, cryosurgery and electrosurgery as needed. Among the dermatology staff are physicians with special training in performing Mohs surgery—an advanced treatment for skin cancer that offers the highest potential for cure. All surgery is performed in the dermatologist’s office on an outpatient basis.
The dermatologic surgeons at Emerson offer a range of procedures, including:
- Skin cancer: Treatment for basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma, as well as precancerous lesions
- Various conditions including eczema, rosacea, psoriasis, seborrheic keratoses, hair loss, shingles, allergic reactions, hives
- Cosmetic procedures including removal of acne scars
- Treatment of benign conditions such as warts
