Urinary Tract System

The kidneys, positioned toward the middle of the back, remove waste material and excess water from the blood in the form of urine. Urine is carried from the kidneys through narrow tubes called ureters and into the bladder. It is then passed out of the body through another narrow tube, the urethra. Solid material that builds up in the kidneys is referred to as stones.
