Lund Community Library
Providing current information on medical diagnosis, treatment, research and support
Confronting a serious illness or disease can be one of life's most challenging events. Obtaining accurate and up-to-date information is an important way for patients, family members and others to empower themselves. The Lund Community Health Library was created to help individuals better understand and cope with the diagnosis of a medical condition and to provide information about the latest treatment methods.
Library Services
The Lund Community health Library offers a wealth of resources including medical journals, textbooks, health newsletters and medical videos. The Library also provides reliable and scientific information about many complementary therapies. Via the Internet, the Library provides access to numerous medical resources and institutions. These include the National Library of Medicine, the National Institutes of Health and National Cancer Institute, and other web sites that are devoted to informing the public abut specific diseases.
Knowledgeable Staff
In addition to the Emerson Hospital medical librarian, the Lund Community Health Library has a team of experienced and dedicated volunteers to help visitors. They can show you how to access information in the library, search the Internet or use a variety of other resources. Much of this material has been selected and reviewed for accuracy by Emerson's physicians. The staff's responsibility is to help you gather information that, together with your physician's advice, will make you more knowledgeable and better informed to make important decisions. As with all areas of the hospital, privacy and confidentiality are always respected.
Lund Community Health Library History
The Library was made possible through the generosity of the Lund family and friends and Emerson Hospital. It was established to honor the memory of Lyn Bidgood Lund, RN, a longtime Emerson nurse and active community member. The Lund Community Health Library is a tribute to her work and her life.
Location
The Lund Community Health Library is located at Emerson Hospital on the second floor of the John Cuming Building, adjacent to the Bethke Cancer Center. The Library is open to all members of the community.
