Purpose
The purpose of the Emerson Hospital Continuing Medical Education program is to provide educational opportunities to Emerson’s medical staff that will contribute to quality patient care.
Content areas
The content areas will cover concepts and controversies in the practice of medicine, including information on current practice trends, evidence-based medicine, emerging scientific knowledge, and the delivery of high-quality, safe, equitable, and cost-effective care. Content areas will also include topics such as risk management, public health, the practice environment, leadership, public policy, and tools for performance improvement.
Target audience
The target audience is Emerson Hospital medical staff, physicians who practice in the Emerson area, and interested allied health professionals.
Educational activities
Activities are designed to enhance knowledge, competence, performance, and/or patient outcomes with innovative and effective learning formats with live activities, including lectures, workshops, simulations, seminars, panel discussions, and M&M conferences. In addition, the CME Program encourages innovative use of new technologies and approaches to enhance physician learning skills and the translation of changes into practice by providing materials to its learners, such as DVD programs, video programs, and/or Web-based asynchronous presentations.
Expected results
The Emerson CME program will enhance physician knowledge, competence, performance, and/or improve patient outcomes with impact to be evaluated utilizing assessment tools that demonstrate qualitative and quantitative measures of change.
