Emerson Hospital Main Street Gallery Features Nature Photography by Acton Resident Neil Tischler

12/7/2015

Emerson Hospital’s Main Street Gallery, located in the main hallway of the hospital, is featuring the work of nature photographer Neil Tischler of Acton. Neil has been fascinated by nature since his early childhood in rural upstate New York and has been active in photography since he was a teenager.  He uses only a hand-held digital camera and natural ambient light to take his photographs.  Flashes of light, contrasting colors, or sudden motions attract his eye towards his subjects in their natural settings.

Neil’s photographs of his subjects are astonishing for capturing the images so quickly and naturally, and for revealing stunning detail of his subjects.  For example, a visit to the Gallery will show you Neil’s photo of a tufted titmouse flaunting beautiful dark lashes framing its eyes.  You can also enjoy a close-up photo of dragonfly wings aptly titled “Tiffany Wings,” as the intricate detail of the wings resembles Tiffany glass.

“I hope my work encourages others to look at nature more closely, become aware of its beauty, and act to protect it,” says Neil.  “I hope that Emerson visitors, patients, and staff enjoy the beauty of nature displayed in my photographs and act to protect all that lives around us.”

The Auxiliary of Emerson Hospital presents the Main Street Gallery, which features rotating exhibits by local artists and photographers throughout the year. Each image is for sale with proceeds supporting Emerson’s programs and services.  The Gallery is open to the public for viewing at any time. Neil’s photographs will be on display through January 16, 2016. If you are interested in purchasing one of the images, please visit the Community Services office at Emerson Hospital, located across the hall from the Gallery, or email EmersonAuxiliary@gmail.com
