18th Annual Emerson Hospital Golf Tournament Raises over $63,000

9/28/2016

The Auxiliary of Emerson Hospital recently hosted its 18th annual golf tournament at the Nashawtuc Country Club.  The event, which raised more than $63,000, sold out with 144 participants.  Since its inception, the Emerson Hospital Golf Tournament has raised over one million dollars to fund programs and services at Emerson Hospital.

“This year’s tournament was a great success!” said Tracy Groves, Co-Chair of the Golf Committee. "Success can be measured in many ways:  monetary, participation, support, camaraderie, and smiles.  We hit them all!  The strong support from local organizations and volunteers from towns surrounding Emerson Hospital has been felt through this tournament.   All of the proceeds go directly to fund programs that enhance the Emerson patient experience, such as the Pediatric Intervention Team, pre-operative classes, training mannequins and much more.  Thank you to all our sponsors!”

The 36 teams that participated in this year’s event came from large corporations, small businesses, and individual families who all wished to support Emerson Hospital. The overall net winner of the tournament was the foursome of Bob Carr Sr., Bob Carr Jr., Bob Williamson, and Arthur Robinson, sponsored by Bob & Nancy Carr & Family, with a score of 51.  The top three teams were Bob & Nancy Carr & Family, Donoghue, Barrett & Singal PC, and Sodexo.

This year’s Platinum sponsors were Sodexo and Donoghue, Barrett & Singal PC. The Gold Level sponsors were The DiGiovanni Family, Middlesex Savings Bank, MIG Corporation, and N-of-One.  The event was co-chaired by Tracy Groves of Acton and Denise Haartz of Concord. Committee members included Leslie Cheney, Jan Kenneally, Betty Ann Killian, Karen McCarthy, Maddy McCormick, Kristine Melvin, Amy Newell, Sally Savelle, Susan McNeil Spuhler, and Catherine Webster.

The event also included a number of exciting raffles ranging from Bose Headphones and Kimball Farm passes to box seats for the annual BC vs. BU hockey game.  While no one won the Hole-in-One prize, all admired the 2016 Jaguar F-PACE from Lyon-Waugh Automotive Group.  New to the cocktail event was a Silent Auction where players bid on the opportunity to win coveted Red Sox tickets, a round of golf at Nashawtuc, and an extensive basket of gourmet goods ranging from 15-year old Scotch to a custom-made shirt.
