Families Welcome Babies on Father’s Day

6/21/2017

Father’s Day on Sunday, June 18, was busy at Emerson Hospital as several newborns made their entrance into the world while giving their new fathers an extra special gift. Most of the babies born were boys, and most were the first born child in their family.

Layne Christopher Belland arrived at 8:53 a.m. on his actual due date. His parents, Rebecca and Nicholas of Princeton, knew the odds were very small that he would be born on his Father’s Day due date. “This feels like an amazing gift, a perfect present – what are the chances?!” said his new father. The parents were going to spend the day with family, but instead, they celebrated their newborn son while family came to visit them in the hospital. Layne weighed 6 pounds, 15 ounces at birth and measured 20.5 inches long. Rebecca’s regular OB practice is AFA Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Aengus John Atherton was born at 9:26 a.m., weighing 7 pounds, 4 ounces and measuring 20 inches long. His parents are Katelyn Ferguson and Adam Atherton of Concord. Aengus was due on June 23 and his parents chose not to find out his gender so they had several surprises on Father’s Day. They were supposed to be at a family brunch enjoying the holiday together, instead, they came to Emerson to deliver Aengus, which his father said, “Has been overwhelming in a very positive way.” His name comes from the William Butler Yeats poem “The Song of Wandering Aengus.” Both of his parents spent time in Ireland and declared his name very fitting. Katelyn’s regular OB practice is AFA Obstetrics and Gynecology.

At 2:23 p.m., Violet Parker-Cobleigh was born to Kelsey Parker and Scott Cobleigh of Maynard. She weighed 8 pounds and measured 21.5 inches at birth. While she arrived a few days after her June 15 due date, her Father’s Day arrival, “Couldn’t be topped,” said her father. Both of her parents were born at Emerson and they chose Violet’s name during breakfast one day while Kelsey was pregnant. Kelsey’s regular OB practice is Concord OB/GYN.

Rowan Elias Lefebvre was born at 9:20 p.m. to first-time parents Jaimee and David of Pepperell. While his father is a firefighter in Westford and had delivered two babies in his work as a paramedic, having his own son born is, “Surreal and the best Father’s Day present ever.” Before she went into labor, Jaimee had given David a Happy Father-To-Be card, which shortly became obsolete when Rowan arrived. He was due on July 8 and he has already had visits from two of his four grandfathers. Jaimee’s regular OB practice is Concord OB/GYN.

The babies were all delivered by Jaime Bond, MD of Concord OB/GYN. The new parents said they chose Emerson Hospital because of its reputation and excellent labor and delivery and maternity care. All of the parents praised their nurses for their care and attention.
