Emerson Recognized as Top Maternity Hospital by Newsweek

One of Only Five Hospitals in the State to Receive Highest Honors

Emerson Hospital’s Birthing Center earned national recognition as one of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals 2023 by Newsweek. Only five hospitals in Massachusetts received the highest honor, which recognizes outstanding maternity care and childbirth experiences.

Newsweek evaluated more than 300 maternity hospitals based on: a national survey of hospital managers and maternity healthcare professionals; key performance indicator data related to maternity care, including safety and hospitals’ rate of cesarean births; and patient satisfaction data which includes staff responsiveness and communication.

This honor comes just after Emerson received the highest marks for patient safety by the LeapFrog group, one of several national patient care awards that Emerson received recently. Emerson is the only hospital in Massachusetts honored with the 2023 Patient Safety Excellence Award and Outstanding Patient Experience Award from Healthgrades, and is the only hospital in Massachusetts named a Top Hospital by The Leapfrog Group.
