A Letter to the Community from Emerson's CEO

7/29/2021

Dear Community Members,

I hope this message finds you well and enjoying your summer. I am writing to provide an update on hospital operations and our response to the COVID-19 variants on the rise in Massachusetts and across the country.

Although COVID-19 remains a part of our lives for the foreseeable future, Emerson remains confident in our ability to accommodate our patients when and where they need us. While we cannot predict exactly how the recent rise in cases across the country will impact us, we are tracking the situation closely. We will continue to adapt our operations as needed, as we have throughout the pandemic.

Currently, we see very few hospitalized COVID-positive cases at Emerson, which is a testament to the high vaccination rate in our community. Thank you for doing your part to keep your neighbors and loved ones safe and healthy.

Please note, for your safety, masks are still required for patients, staff, and everyone entering our facilities. We remain open for all patient care.

We will continue to monitor the impact of the delta variant locally. Meanwhile, the best defense against COVID-19 and its variants is to get vaccinated. You can visit vaxfinder.mass.gov to find a vaccination clinic near you. Additionally, when you are out in the community interacting with unvaccinated individuals or in large crowds, remember to maintain a safe distance, wear a mask, and frequently wash your hands. These measures will help keep you and your loved ones safe.

We are here for you! Please reach out if you have any questions or would like additional information.

Thank you for your ongoing support. Stay safe!

Warmly,

Christine Schuster, RN, MBA
Emerson Hospital President and CEO
