Important Information About COVID Testing and Symptoms

1/4/2022

Like all hospitals across the state, Emerson is at critical capacity. We want to continue to serve patients who require hospital-based care. In order to do so, we need the community’s assistance:

If you feel sick or have mild COVID-19 symptoms:

  • Get tested for COVID-19 at a test site or with an at-home test.
  • Isolate per CDC guidelines, including while awaiting test results. If the test is positive, continue to isolate and take care of yourself at home. Please review these CDC guidelines for home care.
  • Please do not call or come to our emergency department (ED) if you have only been exposed or have mild symptoms. The ED is for medical emergencies and for those who require life-saving care, it is not for COVID testing or treating mild symptoms.
  • Follow these guidelines for what to do if you are sick, and watch for these warning signs of severe COVID that require emergency care.

If you need a COVID test:

  • Please do not call our emergency department or go to the ED for a test. Instead, please call your primary care physician and request a test or ask your physician’s office to provide an order for a test at a local testing site.
  • Visit Emerson’s COVID testing web page for information about COVID testing at Emerson’s drive-through testing site in Concord and our Urgent Care Centers in Hudson and Littleton.
  • Find additional testing sites by visiting the Massachusetts COVID-19 Test Finder page.

If you have shortness of breath or other severe symptoms, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department.

Thank you for your attention and support of our staff during this challenging time. Together, we will get through this latest surge.
