Josh Avery

Josh Avery, PT, DPT

Senior Physical Therapist – Concord

Experience: Mr. Avery graduated from Northeastern University with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy and his Bachelor's Degree in Rehabilitation Science. Before joining the Emerson team, he had multiple years of outpatient orthopedic and sports physical therapy experience including work with the New England Patriots while he was at Northeastern University. Josh has worked extensively with both adult and pediatric populations. He specializes in orthopedic and sports rehabilitation and has a strong manual therapy background. While at Emerson, he has been active in the Spine Rehabilitation Clinic and the Concussion Program.

Certifications: Vasper trained clinician

Naseem Chatiwala

Naseem Chatiwala, PT, MS, DPT, NCS

Clinical Specialist Neurology/Pediatrics – Concord

Experience: Ms. Chatiwala is a board certified Neurological Specialist with more than 18 years of experience treating wide variety of adult and pediatric neurological diagnoses. She was recently awarded an APTA credentialed certificate in vestibular competency after successfully completing intensive training in vestibular rehabilitation at an Emory University-sponsored course. Ms. Chatiwala received her Advanced Masters in neurological and transitional Doctor in Physical Therapy from MGH-Institute of Health Professions. She helped design the Better Balance Clinic and is currently working to develop a pediatric program at the Concord site. Ms. Chatiwala runs the Brace Clinic offered in Concord. She's a member of APTA neurological sections

Liz Crowley

Liz Crowley, PT, DPT

Staff Physical Therapist – Concord

Experience: Ms. Crowley graduated from the University of Connecticut with her doctorate in physical therapy. Her undergraduate degree is from Colgate University. Prior to working at Emerson Hospital she had clinical experience working at Spaulding Rehab Hospital in Charlestown, Mass. She has had experiences working with various patient populations, including spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, neurological movement disorder, amputee, and orthopedic. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association.

Blithen Davis

Blithen Davis, MSPT

Staff Physical Therapist – Concord

Experience: Ms. Davis graduated from Northeastern University with a Masters in Physical Therapy. Prior to joining the Emerson staff, Ms. Davis worked for New England Baptist Hospital in their Spine Program and in an outpatient sports physical therapy clinic. She specializes in spine, concussion, vestibular and pregnancy-related conditions. Ms. Davis is involved in the spine rehabilitation clinic and the concussion program at Emerson.

Scott Dery

Scott Dery, PT, DPT

Senior Physical Therapist

Experience: Mr. Dery graduated from the University of Massachusetts Lowell with a doctorate in physical therapy. His undergraduate degree is in exercise physiology. Since joining the Emerson staff in 2013, Mr. Dery has focused on orthopedic rehabilitation, sports injury management, and chronic and acute spinal conditions. Scott enjoys helping patients return to function by combining evidence-based and experience-based therapeutic exercises and manual therapy techniques. Scott is also actively involved in our spine group, concussion, and orthotics care teams.

Clinical Interests: Orthopedic and sports rehabilitation, post-surgical rehabilitation, lumbar and cervical spine pathologies, semi-custom orthotic fabrication


Hollie Letendre

Hollie Elwood, PT, DPT

Staff Physical Therapist – Westford

Experience: Ms. Elwood graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, with a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology and a doctorate in physical therapy. Prior to joining the Emerson staff, she completed doctoral internships at several facilities throughout the New England area, in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Having worked in an outpatient orthopedic and sports rehabilitation setting for several years, Hollie currently treats vestibular and balance disorders, and is a member of the neurological and concussion care teams here at Emerson. She has recently completed the Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery (PWR!) certification program to treat patients with Parkinson’s disease, as well as continuing education for the prevention and treatment of injuries in dancers.

Crystal Fontas

Crystal Fontas, DPT

Chief Physical Therapist

Experience: Ms. Fontas graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, with a Bachelor of Science in exercise physiology and a doctorate in physical therapy. She assisted in the development of the Spine Rehabilitation Program as well as community outreach programs for runners. Ms. Fontas has received specialized training in treating pregnant and postpartum conditions, is trained in oncology rehabilitation, and is a member of the Be Strong Cancer Care Team. She also provides sports rehabilitation to athletes at an area high school and coordinates the student program.

Clinical Interests: Orthopedic, sports, spine and cancer rehabilitation, management and prevention of running injuries and pregnancy/postpartum conditions


Jessica Gravel

Jessica Gravel, DPT

Senior Physical Therapist & Project Manager – Concord

Experience: Ms. Gravel is the outpatient concussion coordinator for our physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech pathology departments. She has assisted in the growth and development of Emerson's current post–concussion and baseline concussion programs. Ms. Gravel is also the project manager of the Dr. Robert C. Cantu Concussion Center's Oak Foundation grant, where she provides concussion education and baseline testing to adolescents within Massachusetts and oversees the grant’s research objectives. Ms. Gravel specializes in orthopedic and sports injuries and concussion rehabilitation with a strong manual background in treating patients with spine dysfunction following post-concussion syndrome. She is also trained in oncology rehabilitation. Ms. Gravel graduated from the University of Hartford with a master's in physical therapy and the MGH Institute of Health Professions with a doctorate in physical therapy.

Christopher Iby

Christopher Iby, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS

Senior Physical Therapist

Experience: Mr. Iby graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, with a doctorate in physical therapy, after receiving his undergraduate degree in exercise physiology. In 2014, he became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. And in 2016 he earned a board certification from the American Physical Therapy Association as a Clinical Specialist in Orthopedics (OCS). Mr. Iby strives to apply evidence-based physical therapy techniques from a strength and conditioning perspective to maximize the health and performance of adolescent and adult athletes. He is also an adjunct faculty member in the physical therapy program at the University of Massachusetts. While at Emerson, Mr. Iby has become active in our spine and concussion rehab programs. He enjoys working with active individuals of all levels, helping them restore pain-free movement and return to sport.

Rachel Kim

Rachel Kim, PT, DPT

Staff Physical Therapist – Westford

Experience: Mrs. Kim graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. She has experience in the outpatient setting with special interest in prevention and management of running injuries, concussion management and female pelvic health. Mrs. Kim received her Level I certification through the American Physical Therapy Association’s Women’s Health Section. She is active in Emerson Hospital’s running injury assessment and running conditioning clinic.

Kara Lammerding

Kara Lammerding, PT, DPT

Staff Physical Therapist

Experience: Ms. Lammerding graduated from the University of Hartford with a bachelor’s in health science and a doctorate in physical therapy. Ms. Lammerding’s experiences include inpatient and outpatient orthopedic and neurologic rehabilitation, lymphedema management, and concussion management. Ms. Lammerding has received certifications in LSVT® BIG and Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery (PWR!), both of which are evidence-based treatment approaches for Parkinson’s disease.

Courtney Larguinho

Courtney Larguinho, DPT

Senior Physical Therapist – Concord

Experience: Ms. Larguinho graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell with a doctorate in physical therapy. Her undergraduate degree is in exercise physiology. Prior to joining the Emerson staff, she completed doctoral internships with Emerson Hospital and Newton Wellesley Hospital focusing on outpatient care. Ms. Larguinho is active with the Cantu Concussion Center and the Wellness Center at Emerson Hospital. Ms. Larguinho specializes in vestibular and neurological rehab. She is an LSVT BIG® therapist, which is an evidence-based treatment approach for Parkinson's disease. She is also trained in oncology rehabilitation and is a member of the Be Strong Cancer Care Team. She is an instructor for community wellness classes at Emerson and coordinates the student program.

Julie Lorden

Julie Lorden, PT, DPT

Senior Physical Therapist – Westford

Experience: Ms. Lorden graduated from the University of Massachusetts Lowell with a doctorate in physical therapy. Her undergraduate degree is in exercise physiology. Ms. Lorden specializes in neurological and vestibular rehabilitation and is certified in LSVT BIG and PWR! — evidence- based treatment programs for people with Parkinson’s — as well as an MDS Allied Health Team attendee. Ms. Lorden also has further training in concussion management and oncology rehabilitation, and is active with the Dr. Robert C. Cantu Concussion Center and Be Strong Cancer program. Ms. Lorden also assisted in the development of the Fitness for PWP exercise program. Ms. Lorden is a member of the neurological, oncology, concussion and pediatric care teams at Emerson's Center for Rehabilitative and Sports Therapies.

Joe Marcotte, PT, DPT, ATC, CSCS

Staff Physical Therapist

Experience: Mr. Marcotte graduated from the University Massachusetts Lowell (UML) with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Prior to attending UML Joe completed his Master of Science in Athletic Training at Bridgewater State University and his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He is a licensed athletic trainer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Mr. Marcotte’s experiences include sports injury management at the high school and collegiate level, inpatient & outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation, and long term care. Joe is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and American Physical Therapy Association.

Heather Mistry

Heather Mistry, PT, DPT, NCS

Staff Physical Therapist

Experience: Ms. Mistry graduated from Northwestern University with a doctorate in physical therapy. She completed her undergraduate degree in exercise sports science at Elon University. Ms. Mistry is a board certified neurological specialist and a LSVT BIG-trained therapist. Prior to working at Emerson, she worked in inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation with her primary focus in stroke, brain injury, and Parkinson’s disease. Ms. Mistry is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the neurology section.

Debbie Smith

Debbie Smith, PT

Staff Physical Therapist – Concord

Experience: Ms. Smith graduated from Russell Sage College with a Bachelor of Science in physical therapy. She has more than 35 years experience in various settings with an emphasis on orthopedics and sports injuries. She is trained in manual therapy including Paris, McKenzie, Jones, Cranio-sacral, Myofascial Release, Reiki, Manual Lymph Drainage and Muscle Energy techniques as well as spinal stabilization, Kinesio taping and Pilates. She is trained in oncology rehabilitation and is a member of the Be Strong Cancer Care Team.

Karen Veilleux

Karen Veilleux PT, DPT

Pediatric Physical Therapist

Experience: Ms. Veilleux graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology and from Simmons College with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Karen specializes in pediatric therapy. Prior to working at Emerson Hospital she had clinical experience at an outpatient pediatric center in the Boston area as well as a clinical affiliation with Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. She is aquatic therapy certified through the Aquatic Therapy Rehabilitation Institute. She enjoys working with children of all ages and abilities and has worked at adaptive sports camps in the Boston area. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association’s Pediatric Section.
