Sharon Aumueller, PT, MPA, ATRIC

Staff Physical Therapist, Aquatic Certified

Experience: Ms. Aumueller graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. She has a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Seton Hall University. She is also a Certified Aquatic Therapist. Sharon has 20 years of clinical experience working in outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation settings. Prior to joining the Emerson team, she worked in orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation at the Kessler Institute. Her current focus is orthopedics, post-surgical rehabilitation and aquatic therapy.

Melissa Campbell

Melissa Campbell, PT, DPT

Staff Physical Therapist

Experience: Ms. Campbell graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, with a bachelor's in exercise physiology and a doctorate in physical therapy. She has experience in the outpatient setting with special interests in treatment of adult neurological conditions, specifically Parkinson’s disease and pediatric conditions including cerebral palsy, autism, developmental coordination delay, gross motor delay and toe walking.

Whitney Doiron PT, DPT

Whitney Doiron PT, DPT

Staff Physical Therapist

Experience: Ms. Doiron graduated from Simmons College in Boston with a bachelor’s degree in health science and a doctorate in physical therapy. She has experience in the pediatric outpatient setting with special interests in developmental delays, coordination disorders, and neurological conditions such as muscular dystrophy and torticollis/plagiocephaly. Her interest in patients with muscular dystrophy extends to her volunteering at summer camps. She has experience working in an orthopedic outpatient setting with special interest in treating post-surgical, athletic and repetitive injuries, balance impairments, and varying neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, stroke and multiple sclerosis.

Neal Darmody

Neal Darmody, PT, DPT

Staff Physical Therapist

Experience: Mr. Darmody graduated from Duke University with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. Complimenting his clinical experience, Mr. Darmody gained experience in physical therapy research during an internship with the National Institutes of Health during his undergraduate studies, where he assisted in data analysis. In addition to working at Emerson, he is currently working to advance his clinical practice in orthopedics through an American Physical Therapy Association accredited orthopedic residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions. His goal is to achieve certification as an orthopedic specialist after completion of the residency.

Hollie Letendre

Hollie Elwood, PT, DPT

Staff Physical Therapist

Experience: Ms. Elwood graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, with a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology and a doctorate in physical therapy. Prior to joining the Emerson staff, she completed doctoral internships at several facilities throughout the New England area, in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Having worked in an outpatient orthopedic and sports rehabilitation setting for several years, Hollie currently treats vestibular and balance disorders, and is a member of the neurological and concussion care teams here at Emerson. She has recently completed the Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery (PWR!) certification program to treat patients with Parkinson’s disease, as well as continuing education for the prevention and treatment of injuries in dancers.

Mary Evans, PT, DPT, MS

Mary Evans, PT, DPT, MS

Pediatric and Neurologic Clinical Specialist

Experience: Ms. Evans graduated with a Bachelor of Science in physical therapy from Russell Sage College in Troy, New York, and has graduate degrees in physical therapy from MGH-Institute of Health Professions and Simmons College. She is certified in the Schroth Technique — a scoliosis specific exercise program. She is a certified early intervention specialist and a certified teacher of infant massage. She has over 30 years of experience in a variety of settings, including inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient private practice and early intervention in families’ homes. She has advanced training in neuro-developmental treatment, floor time, visual impairments and Kinesio Taping for the pediatric population, as well as extensive experience with adults who have neurologic disorders. She is a co-chair of the Massachusetts Pediatric Special Interest Group, a section of the American Physical Therapy Association. She also writes a blog: Pediatric Physical Therapy, a Resource for Parents in Middlesex County.

Experience: Mr. Felton graduated from the University of Massachusetts Lowell with a doctorate in physical therapy after receiving his undergraduate degree in clinical sciences from Ithaca College. As an undergraduate student, Nate participated in a research study investigating the effects of surgery, bracing, and exercise on posterior tibialis tendonitis. Prior to his professional coursework, he worked for four years as a rehab aide with clinicians at the Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy in Burlington, Mass.

Trudy Goldstein

Trudy Goldstein, PT

Staff Physical Therapist

Experience: Ms. Goldstein graduated from the University of Connecticut with dual bachelor degrees in biology and physical therapy. She has more than 30 years of clinical and national teaching experience in orthopedics, sports medicine and geriatrics. She has authored two physical therapy textbooks and a DVD. She is a third degree black belt martial arts and tai chi instructor with the School of Mind and Body Harmony in Stoneham, Mass. Ms. Goldstein greatly enjoys integrating tai chi movements, when appropriate, into her rehabilitation and balance programs. She is trained in oncology rehabilitation and is a member of the Be Strong Cancer Care Team.

Christopher Iby

Christopher Iby, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS

Senior Physical Therapist

Experience: Mr. Iby graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, with a doctorate in physical therapy, after receiving his undergraduate degree in exercise physiology. In 2014, he became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. And in 2016 he earned a board certification from the American Physical Therapy Association as a Clinical Specialist in Orthopedics (OCS). Mr. Iby strives to apply evidence-based physical therapy techniques from a strength and conditioning perspective to maximize the health and performance of adolescent and adult athletes. He is also an adjunct faculty member in the physical therapy program at the University of Massachusetts. While at Emerson, Mr. Iby has become active in our spine and concussion rehab programs. He enjoys working with active individuals of all levels, helping them restore pain-free movement and return to sport.

Rachel Kim

Rachel Kim, PT, DPT

Senior Physical Therapist

Experience: Mrs. Kim graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. She has experience in the outpatient setting with special interest in prevention and management of running injuries, concussion management and female pelvic health. Mrs. Kim received her Level I certification through the American Physical Therapy Association’s Women’s Health Section. She is active in Emerson Hospital’s running injury assessment and running conditioning clinic.

Steven Lisowe

Steven Lisowe, PT

Physical Therapist

Experience: Mr. Lisowe graduated from Marquette University with a master’s in physical therapy, and he has more than fifteen years of experience treating orthopedic injuries, work injuries, and movement dysfunction. He utilizes his certification in applied functional science from the Gray Institute to design unique corrective exercise plans for all ages and abilities. He is a specialist in job analysis, ergonomics, and injury prevention in the work place, and he has consulted with numerous industries on these topics. Mr. Lisowe is also active with the Emerson Spine Program.

Kate Looby

Kate Looby, PT, DPT

Staff Physical Therapist

Experience: Ms. Looby graduated magna cum laude from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, earning a bachelor’s in exercise physiology and a doctorate in physical therapy. Prior to joining the Emerson team, Ms. Looby worked in an outpatient clinic in Delaware treating mainly orthopedic, vestibular, balance, and post-surgical diagnoses. She also completed three doctoral internships at Boston Medical Center, OSF St. Francis Medical Center, and Harmeling Physical Therapy, focusing mainly on treating a variety of orthopedic and vestibular diagnoses in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Ms. Looby has taken numerous continuing education courses related to vestibular and balance disorders.

Julie Lorden

Julie Lorden, PT, DPT

Senior Physical Therapist

Experience: Ms. Lorden graduated from the University of Massachusetts Lowell with a doctorate in physical therapy. Her undergraduate degree is in exercise physiology. Ms. Lorden specializes in neurological and vestibular rehabilitation and is certified in LSVT BIG and PWR! — evidence-based treatment programs for people with Parkinson’s — as well as an MDS Allied Health Team attendee. Ms. Lorden also has further training in concussion management and oncology rehabilitation, and is active with the Dr. Robert C. Cantu Concussion Center and Be Strong Cancer program. Ms. Lorden also assisted in the development of the Fitness for PWP exercise program. Ms. Lorden is a member of the neurological, oncology, concussion and pediatric care teams here at the Center for Rehabilitative and Sports Therapies.

Staff Physical Therapist

Experience: Ms. Morton graduated from the University of Massachusetts Lowell with a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology and a doctorate in physical therapy. She has experience in the outpatient setting with special interest in treating neurological disorders, vestibular disorders, and concussion management, but also has experience in treating a variety of orthopedic conditions. She is certified in the LSVT BIG program to treat patients with Parkinson`s disease.

Laura Nejame, PT

Chief Physical Therapist

Experience: Ms. Nejame graduated from Boston University. She has over 20 years of experience in outpatient physical therapy. Before joining the Emerson team, she worked supervising an outpatient clinic for the Boston Celtics head physical therapist and athletic trainer. Ms. Nejame enjoys treating a variety of patients including professional, collegiate and high school athletes.

Karen Veilleux

Karen Veilleux PT, DPT

Pediatric Physical Therapist

Experience: Ms. Veilleux graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and from Simmons College with her doctorate in physical therapy. Karen specializes in pediatric therapy. Prior to working at Emerson Hospital she had clinical experience at an outpatient pediatric center in the Boston area as well as a clinical affiliation with Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. She is aquatic therapy certified through the Aquatic Therapy Rehabilitation Institute. She enjoys working with children of all ages and abilities and has worked at adaptive sports camps in the Boston area. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association’s Pediatric Section.

Experience: Ms. Whitney graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, with a Bachelor of Science in exercise physiology and a master's in physical therapy. She has more than 20 years of experience working in the fitness, academic and rehabilitation settings. Her current focus is in outpatient orthopedics, including spine, foot, and ankle mechanics and orthotics. She is trained in oncology rehabilitation and is a member of the Be Strong Cancer Care Team.

Kristen Wood, PT

Experience: Ms. Wood graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. She has worked in orthopedic outpatient clinics primarily, but also works in acute care and rehabilitation at Emerson Hospital in Concord. She enjoys focusing in orthopedics, sports rehab, balance and vestibular training, pediatrics and the spine program. Her past experience includes working in private outpatient clinics for trainers for professional sports teams and at New England Baptist Hospital.

Rebecca Dugan

Cheri Desharnais, OT, CHT

Staff Occupational Therapist

Experience: Ms. Desharnais graduated from Springfield College with a masters degree in occupational therapy. Her undergraduate degree is in business administration from Fitchburg State University. She is a certified hand therapist. She has over ten years of clinical experience in hand therapy and has worked in a variety of settings, including outpatient hospital rehabilitation centers as well as private practice. Ms. Desharnais treats adults and pediatric orthopedic upper extremity conditions. She is trained in oncology rehabilitation and is a member of the Be Strong Cancer Care Team.

Rebecca Dugan

Rebecca Dugan, OTR/L, CHT

Staff Occupational Therapist

Experience: Ms. Dugan graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a bachelor’s in occupational therapy and is a certified hand therapist. She has more than 20 years of experience in a variety of clinical settings, focusing on hand therapy since 2000. Ms. Dugan is published and has lectured on healthy computer use for computer science educators and students. In addition, she has lectured on thoracic outlet syndrome and arthritis.

Irene Kounelas Gibbons

Irene Kounelas Gibbons, OTR/L

Pediatric Occupational Therapist

Experience: Ms. Kounelas Gibbons graduated from the University of New Hampshire with her degree in occupational therapy. She has more than 25 years of experience working with children and their families in a variety of settings, including public schools, private schools, charter schools, early intervention, and private clinics. She assisted in the creation of the pediatrics program and was the initial instructor of pediatrics in the Occupational Therapy Assistant program at New England Technical Institute in Warwick, R.I. Ms. Kounelas Gibbons has been Sensory Integration and Praxis Test certified since 1997. She has lectured at various conferences on sensory processing and creating sensory diets. Ms. Kounelas Gibbons has been certified to use the SOS Approach to Feeding since 2012 and has used it extensively in treatment with children and their families.

Carey Anne Bellino, MA, CCC-SLP | Speech/Language Pathologist

Carey Anne Bellino, MA, CCC-SLP

Speech/Language Pathologist

Experience: Ms. Bellino is a certified and licensed speech-language pathologist who evaluates and treats conditions that impact cognition, speech, language, and swallowing skills. She works with adolescents and adults who have sustained concussions and brain injuries, who are undergoing treatment for head and neck cancer, or who are experiencing other neurodegenerative concerns. Prior to joining Emerson’s team, Ms. Bellino worked at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital with post-acute brain injury and stroke populations, as well as at Emerson College, where she provided clinical instruction to graduate student clinicians and guest lectured on topics of clinical interest. She holds both a bachelor’s degree in communication disorders and a master’s in speech language pathology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Ms. Bellino began her career at the Centre for Neuro Skills in California, working in an outpatient rehabilitation setting with adults who sustained traumatic brain injuries. She returned to Massachusetts to work at the Ivy Street School, treating adolescents and young adults with acquired and traumatic brain injuries. There, she was a founding member of a transition services classroom targeting executive functioning and social-cognitive skills in naturally occurring contexts. Ms. Bellino has presented at local, state and national levels on the topic of innovative programming for the transition from adolescence to young adulthood.

Matthew White

Matthew White, M.Ed, ATC, PES

Head Athletic Trainer

Experience: Mr. White graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology: athletic training and from Boston University with a master’s in human movement. He has spent the past fourteen years working in professional hockey with the San Jose Sharks and Anaheim Ducks organizations. He also has experience working with collegiate athletes from the College of the Holy Cross and Boston University.
