Research

Medical Director David Lautz, MD, has over 16 years of experience in laparoscopic surgery and over 14 years in bariatrics. In that time, Dr. Lautz has been at the forefront of surgical weight loss research and co-morbidity research. Specifically, he has published articles on the outcomes of bariatric procedures and made notable advances in interventional endoscopic techniques aimed at addressing bariatric surgical complications. As co-Principal Investigator, Dr. Lautz led a National Institutes of Health study investigating the effectiveness of bariatric surgery in treating lower BMI diabetic patients.

In the course of his career, Dr. Lautz has co-authored nearly 40 published peer-reviewed reports related to surgical weight loss and therapy. Dr. Lautz is one of the true leaders in the field of bariatric procedures.
