Better Breathers Lecture on Lung Disease – November 19

Millions of people have lung disease, which can make it difficult to breathe. To help with treatment, the Better Breathers Club at Emerson Hospital, an information and support group for people with lung disease and their family and friends, is continuing its 2015-2016 lecture series.  The next session will take place on Thursday, November 19th from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. Members of the Concord Fire Department will talk about oxygen use and fire safety.

Since many patients who have lung disease are on oxygen or may need to be on oxygen in the future, the Fire Department has important safety and preparedness protocol which will be shared.  A variety of ambulatory oxygen delivery systems will be discussed as well as safe ways to travel with oxygen. The lecture will be held at the Emerson Hospital Cheney B conference room, located near the main lobby of the hospital at 133 Old Road to Nine Acre Corner in Concord.  The event is free and open to the public.

The Better Breathers Club is open to anyone who is living with lung disease and their family and friends. Lectures will continue on the third Thursday of the month from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Emerson Hospital. Upcoming topics include the benefits of exercise, better breathing thru quigong and yoga, and understanding your pulmonary medication.  There is no cost to participate and refreshments are provided. Many patients participate in the Better Breathers Club to help cope with lung disease.
