Dr. Raj Devarajan, a gastroenterologist, recently became president of Emerson Hospital’s medical staff. Elected by his peers, Dr. Devarajan will serve a two-year term that began October 1. He succeeds Dr. James Street, chair, Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at Emerson.
As president of Emerson’s medical staff, Dr. Devarajan is responsible for providing leadership to his colleagues and acting as a liaison between the medical staff and the hospital’s administration and Board of Directors.
A resident of Acton, Dr. Devarajan practices at Middlesex Gastroenterology in Acton. He has served as chief of gastroenterology at Emerson Hospital. Dr. Devarajan completed his residency and fellowship training at the medical schools of Yale University, Harvard University and Tufts University. He is board-certified in gastroenterology and psychiatry.
