Millions of people have lung disease, which can make it difficult to breathe. To help with treatment, the Better Breathers Club at Emerson Hospital, an information and support group for people with lung disease and their family and friends, is continuing its 2015-2016 lecture series. The next session will take place on Thursday, January 21st from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Pam Vlahakis, MEd., RD, RYT, will talk about ways Quigong and Yoga can help people who have lung disease. She will demonstrate the exercises and encourage participation. Pam is a registered yoga teacher. Her teaching style integrates various yoga traditions and is inspired by continuing study and training in Yoga Therapy and Medical Qigong. The program will be held at the Emerson Hospital Cheney B conference room, located near the main lobby of the hospital at 133 Old Road to Nine Acre Corner in Concord. The event is free and open to the public.
The Better Breathers Club is open to anyone who is living with lung disease and their family and friends. Lectures will continue on the third Thursday of the month from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Emerson Hospital. Upcoming topics include a lung disease update, eating well, and understanding your pulmonary medication. There is no cost to participate and refreshments are provided. Many patients participate in the Better Breathers Club to help cope with lung disease.
