Reflections in Bloom: An Elegant Evening of Floral Creations and Art to Benefit Emerson Hospital’s Pediatric Intervention Team

4/29/2016

On Saturday, May 21, the Auxiliary of Emerson Hospital will present an elegant event, Reflections in Bloom, hosted by the Powers Gallery, 144 Great Road, Acton, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.  At the gallery, spring will be in full bloom with fresh floral creations by 11 of the most talented local designers, inspired by the gallery’s fine art collection.

Also featured will be a unique opportunity to watch local artists Harley Bartlett, Maris Platais, and Jeanne Rosier Smith complete original paintings. These works of art will be offered for sale in a live auction.  Other event highlights are a silent auction, catered hors d’oeuvres, a raw bar by Concord’s acclaimed restaurant, Woods Hill Table, wine, and live music.

Event proceeds will benefit the Pediatric Intervention Team at Emerson Hospital, including its Coping Kits.  The Pediatric Intervention Team is an integral part of pediatric care at Emerson, providing for the emotional well-being of children and families encountering the hospital experience, whether visiting the Emergency Department or during potentially stressful inpatient or outpatient medical procedures.

Coping Kits are colorful toy-filled bags given to all pediatric patients at Emerson.  The kits are tailored for each patient. The toys included are specifically selected to meet the patient’s specific emotional needs.  Katie Stockman, Nurse Practitioner on Emerson’s Pediatric Intervention Team, explains that, “Coping Kits contain items that to children are just toys, however, each item is carefully chosen for its therapeutic value.  For example, bubbles help a young child breathe deeply.  Teddy bears provide comfort and pop tubes are both a great communication tool and a way for children to express frustration.”

Reflections in Bloom is chaired by Pat Fleischauer of Acton and Anna Travias of Concord.  Tickets for this elegant and fun-filled evening are $75 per person.  To purchase tickets, to make a donation, or for more information, please contact Christine Kielar at Emerson at 978.287.8765, or email EmersonAuxiliary@gmail.com

The Auxiliary wishes to thank the generous sponsors of this event: Acton Toyota, Barrett Sotheby’s, Leslie Cheney, the Colonial Inn, Concord ObGyn, Goldfish Swim School, the Haartz Corporation, Idylwilde Farms, Little Sprouts, Pedal Power & Ski, Christine and Douglas Schuster and the Westford Regency.
