Yoga isn't just for exercise. Many studies have shown the positive effects of yoga on a person's physical and mental health. Yoga has also been proven to have a significant impact on preventing illness and managing the treatment of cancer, heart disease, diabetes and other health issues. Taking wellness classes has proven to help reduce depression, loneliness and mental health issues, while improving overall health.
The Steinberg Wellness Center at Emerson Hospital is hosting a wide variety of yoga classes this winter to help everyone discover the benefits of yoga for optimal health and wellness. Classes include:
• Yoga for Healthy Aging with low-impact stretches to help relieve stress and tension while strengthening bones and raising resting metabolic rate for weight loss. This class is suitable for everyone, from the inflexible office worker to the weekend warrior athlete. This class meets on Mondays from 5:45 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
• Soulful Sunday Yoga is a blissful blend of mindful movement and restorative postures, the perfect way to end your weekend and start a new week. All levels welcome. This class meets on Sundays from 4:00 p.m. – 5:15 p.m.
