Mr. Avery is a senior physical therapist specializing in the management of orthopedic and sports rehabilitation pediatric pain disorders, concussion management, and spine care. He became a doctor of physical therapy (DPT) at Northeastern University where he is currently an adjunct faculty member in their physical therapy department. Before joining the Emerson team in 2013, he had multiple years of outpatient orthopedic and sports physical therapy experience, including work with the New England Patriots while he was at Northeastern. Josh has served as the chairperson for our Aquatics, Concussion and Hypersensitivity Care Teams. In addition, he maintains an active role in progressing the care of patients with concussions and post-concussion syndrome, and is currently involved in research initiatives with the Dr. Robert C. Cantu Concussion Center. Josh has a strong manual therapy background and believes in an active approach to rehabilitation.
