To employees working in radiology, nutrition services, housekeeping, environmental services, purchasing, administration, finances, and blood donation, and to employees working as lab techs and CNAs:
I am embarrassed to say that I haven't often thought about the support personnel at Emerson Hospital except for an occasional trip to the ER, when I've been grateful for a warm reception and welcomed medical attention. It's not the same now. It hasn't been since March came in like "our worst nightmare". Everything has changed. I think about all of you and the demands on each of you as you prepare to come into work every day to do your job that requires the usual attention, and so much more. I know that you all are indispensable, and needed, in a huge way, to keep the environment at Emerson Hospital stable, so that we all can get through this Covid-19 pandemic. Just your coming to work each day is an act of courage. I try to imagine how it feels to leave your home and loved ones, daily, to come into an environment where there is so much stress, and where you know you are vulnerable. I think about how I would respond if I were in your position. I don't truly know what I'd do; it's said you can't appreciate someone else's situation until you've walked in their shoes. I believe that's true. Most of all, please know that I think of you often. It's a little strange, but sometimes I just drive by the hospital like I'm checking up on all of you. I pray that you stay safe. I know that it's because of you that Emerson Hospital is continuing to operate at the highest level possible during this pandemic. While I can't end this letter without saying THANK YOU FOR YOUR OUTSTANDING SERVICE, "thank you" just doesn't seem enough. You all show a human spirit that gives me hope in this most challenging and scariest of times.

To the nurses, doctors and all medical personnel who work at the Emerson Hospital:
I've always been in awe of nurses, doctors, and people who work in the medical field, and I'm thankful for your knowledge and dedication to others' well being. I am capable of doing many things; I'm a teacher and it's a very challenging job, but I am not in any way suited to work in the hospital environment. During this COVID-19 pandemic, I think of you often throughout the day. I think about all the aspects of your jobs that require so much energy, understanding, sensitivity, courage, and dedication to your patients, especially now. I get exhausted just thinking about it; can't imagine doing it. I, also, worry about you and your families. How you all are coping in this most stressful environment. I am afraid for you, knowing you work so closely with people who have the virus. I want to know that everything is being done to keep you safe. When I hear that a health care worker has been tested positive for the virus, or, truly, if anyone has been tested positive, I think, this could be my sister, my friend, or my husband. Right now you all feel like family to me. Please know how much you are valued by those of us at home who are constantly watching the news, and paying attention to the progress being made with finding and getting access to the PPEs that are so vital to your job. We want to know that you have what you need to do your job. No matter what, it will be a heavy load that you carry, but having the right equipment in any job makes us more effective, safer and saner. Thank you hardly seems sufficient, but yes, thank you for your outstanding service, above and beyond what is expected, during this most difficult, unprecedented time.

My name is Eliza and I am 13 years old. I wanted to do my part even if it is writing a letter. I felt it necessary that I express my gratitude, and tell the employees how much I admire and applaud them for their hard work and dedication. I will never know what it’s like to work as one of the most dependent groups of people during these hard times, but above that, I appreciate you. The sacrifices you make for our country will be remembered. You are, after all, a small piece to a big puzzle in stopping the evermore spread of this virus. And as Jennifer Lopez says “you get what you give.” From me and everyone in our community, thank you.
Yours Most Truly, Eliza

Thank you so much for your dedication to saving lives. Emerson is a rock in the community. — Lisa S.

Hello, good evening. I have nothing much to offer but only prayers to the whole world. Together we can go through this situation. We can do it even with social distancing. Am a student at paramedical school in Uganda mulago. Together we can fight this. — Ankundah V.

Thank you for all your amazing hard work! Thank you for helping our community and putting yourselves on the front line to combat COVID-19. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Keep up the great work!!! — Kimberly J.

Until now I've never thought much about how healthcare workers put themselves at risk while taking care of those in need of medical care. I've just taken it for granted. I just wanted to say "Thank You" to you and your fellow health care professionals who are on the front lines in this COVID-19 battle. The sacrifice and courage of health care professionals has not gone unnoticed by myself and others in our community. I am amazed at all of the efforts of doctors, scientists and all those supporting them as they come up with methods to deal with and treat this virus. The speed of the response from the medical community thus far has been nothing short of incredible. — Anonymous

Dear Team Members at Emerson Hospital,
You don’t know me. My name is Lisa. I live in Acton. Members of my family have received care at Emerson over the years. I am writing to say a heartfelt “thank you” for all that you are doing now and will be doing over the next months as our community fights the coronavirus pandemic. You are on the frontline of this battle. You are working hard to prepare for an onslaught of patients. You will do all you can to save lives and help people recover from this terrible illness. And you do all that at increased risk to yourselves. So “thank you.” Thank you to the nurses and doctors. Thank you to medical assistants. Thank you to the administrators. Thank you to the food service workers. Thank you to all involved in keeping the hospital clean. Heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you. With best wishes for your good health and safety. — Lisa

I don’t think people truly understand what a great hospital Emerson is until they end up in another. I for one wouldn’t choose another and I know my family members and I feel very fortunate to be located in a part of the world with the best medical facilities on the planet and we are thankful to have the caliber of top quality care It seems only Emerson provides. Your staff continually goes above and beyond to provide the highest level of professional and compassionate care for their patients and it does not go unnoticed. Thank you for being the best for as long as I can remember. Myself and my family really appreciate you all being there and being the best for us every time we have ever needed you. Keep up the great work and stay safe! — Anonymous

I recently spent 7 days here, and I have to say everyone was so nice! The entire staff from the ED, my nurses, and others were very attentive and explained things clearly. I feel I received top notch care and want to give a big thank you to all my nurses on North 6. Bless you all.
