A Record Year for Annual Emerson Hospital Auxiliary Golf Event

9/20/12: A Record Year for Annual Emerson Hospital Auxiliary Golf Event

The Emerson Hospital Auxiliary recently hosted its 14th annual golf tournament at Nashawtuc Country Club in Concord. The event, which raised more than $60,000, was again sold out with 142 participants. To date, the annual Emerson Hospital Golf Tournament has raised more than $900,000 to fund important Auxiliary-sponsored programs at Emerson Hospital.

The event was open to both two- and four-person golf teams that had the opportunity to participate in a myriad of fun activities, including a raffle that featured golf vacations and trips to California. Golfers also had a chance to win the grand prize of a Toyota Prius, courtesy of Acton Toyota, for a hole-in-one on the 17th hole.

The winner of the trip was Byron Woodman of Woodman & Eaton, P.S., who will enjoy a four-day vacation at Omni Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods, N.H. The overall net winner of the tournament was the foursome of Bobby Cockrell, Mike Hayward, Ernie Stevens and Ted Wilbur of Crothall Healthcare, with a score of 47. The overall gross champion, with a score of 61, was Sodexo Team 1 comprised of Tom Farrell, Dan Burns, Chris Karski and Dudley Abbe.

This year’s Platinum sponsors were Donoghue, Barrett & Singal and Sodexo. The three Gold Level sponsors were the DiGiovanni Family, Middlesex Savings Bank and MIG Corporation. The event was co-chaired by Jennifer Cyrs of Boxborough and Denise Haartz of Concord. The committee that helped to coordinate the event included Priscilla Gannon, Leslie Cheney, Jan Kenneally, Janine Papesh, Melissa Saalfield and Karen Maines.

“This was our most successful golf tournament to date,” said Karen Maines, president of the Emerson Hospital Auxiliary. “We raised a record amount, and are so grateful to all of our sponsors who continue to support the hospital’s programs and services in such an important way.”
