Life goes on, even during a pandemic. Health issues can arise or worsen. There are thousands of reasons people need professional medical care during this pandemic. Waiting often worsens the medical issue. Do not wait.
Many new policies are in place to ensure your health and safety when you come to Emerson Hospital, our off-site locations, our urgent care centers, or one of our practices. While you will notice some differences, such as all staff and visitors wearing masks, we continue to provide advanced medical care with a compassionate touch.
WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN VISITING EMERSON HOSPITAL
The hospital is open 24/7; expert clinicians are available; medical equipment and technology is up and running; and imaging services, the pharmacy and lab are all running smoothly. Our professional environmental services team thoroughly cleans every area of the hospital frequently — adhering to the most stringent protocols from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In addition, there are staff available to help guide our patients between appointments.
Every patient, staff person and visitor at Emerson is screened upon entering the building to protect you and our staff. During the screening process, you will be asked if you have symptoms of a possible respiratory illness. Patients and staff are tested for COVID-19 according to CDC protocols.
All Emerson staff are required to wear a hospital-issued surgical mask. Patients and visitors who are able to are also expected to wear these masks for the duration of the visit and will be issued one when they enter the building. We will make accommodations for patients who cannot tolerate a mask.
Patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 are cared for and roomed in separate units, away from all other patients. Visitor limitations are in place to reduce the spread of the virus. Read our visitor policy for more information.

Surgery & Elective Procedures
We have resumed urgent surgeries and procedures, as well as necessary elective procedures for patients who cannot be delayed any longer.
EMERSON URGENT CARE, PRIMARY CARE AND SPECIALTY CARE PHYSICIANS ARE AVAILABLE
In addition to our main campus, Emerson’s off-site locations, urgent care and physician practices have also implemented additional safety measures for screening, cleaning and physical distancing in waiting areas for patients.
Along with these safety measures, your experience at these offices may have changed since your last visit. A face mask is required to be worn throughout your visit, unless instructed otherwise. We encourage you to wear your own mask when coming to the office, and a hospital-grade mask will be given to you when you arrive. Our staff will be wearing personal protective equipment, which may include gloves, a gown and a face shield.
You will receive a call from your physician’s office prior to your visit to review these protocols and to screen you for any illness.
