When someone experiences the symptoms of a serious psychiatric illness or disorder that requires hospitalization, Emerson Hospital provides a safe therapeutic environment for evaluation, crisis stabilization and treatment.

Our inpatient behavioral health services offer a range of expert resources for patients with mental health and addiction-related conditions, including:
  • A secure 31-bed inpatient Behavioral Health Unit that provides comprehensive one-on-one and group behavioral health therapies for patients who require 24-hour-a-day care for an extended period
  • A psychiatric inpatient service for patients, 18 and older, who can be safely treated with a shorter stay on a secure unit in the general hospital setting
    • Our collaborative relationships with a variety of community-based providers helps patients move to a less restrictive level of care as soon as it is clinically safe to do so, reducing length of stay
Our psychiatrists also provide inpatient consultation to patients who are hospitalized on the medical units at Emerson Hospital.

It’s important to note that our behavioral health services are offered to patients, regardless of their payer (health insurance plan) or ability to pay.
