2/17/2017

Emerson Hospital has opened its first urgent care center - Emerson Urgent Care at Hudson.  The new urgent care center is located in the Shops at Highland Commons, 38 Highland Commons East on the Hudson/Berlin line.

“We are very excited to now offer the excellent care that Emerson is known for directly to people who live and work in the greater Hudson/Berlin community,” said Christine Schuster, president and CEO of Emerson Hospital. “The opening of our first urgent care center is an important part of Emerson’s strategy to serve the health care needs of our community in a way that is convenient and easy for patients and families.”

Emerson Urgent Care at Hudson is staffed by board-certified physicians, certified radiology technicians, and other medical professionals who are on staff at Emerson Hospital.  The team is specially trained in acute care medicine for all age groups. Patients typically come to the center for treatment of minor illnesses and injuries, including sore throats, cuts, stitches, ear and eye infections, neck and back pain, simple fractures, flu symptoms, minor burns, animal bites, rashes and allergic reactions. Dr. Joseph Palomba, medical director of Emerson Urgent Care at Hudson said, “We are very pleased to serve the Hudson area community.  Since the center opened, we have cared for patients of all ages with a variety of illnesses and injuries and look forward to continuing our work to keep the community healthy.”

The center provides access to Emerson’s high quality clinical care and laboratory, on-site X-ray and EKG services and is open convenient hours seven days a week with free parking. No appointment is necessary and patients can generally expect short wait times, with the ability to reserve a time for care via www.EmersonUrgentCare.org or by calling 978-287-8990. Most health insurances are accepted, please check with your insurance provider about coverage and any out of pocket expenses.

“As the local population continues to grow, the need for a high quality, convenient urgent care is critical to keeping our community healthy,” said Scott Duplisea, Chair of the Board of Selectman, Hudson. “Emerson Hospital is the gold standard for care in the community and we are extremely pleased that it has opened Emerson Urgent Care at Hudson.  Now, the advanced care that the hospital is renowned for is even more accessible to everyone who lives and works in the area.”

The center is purpose-built with patient care at the forefront of the design. Emerson selected noted architects and the hospital’s long-time design partner, Levi Wong of Concord, for the project.  The hospital worked with JM Coull Inc. of Maynard to build the urgent care center. Emerson plans to open urgent care centers in Littleton and Maynard later this year.

Located off Route 62 (Coolidge Street), the Shops at Highland Commons provides easy access off Route 495 and draws people who live and work in Hudson, Berlin, Sudbury, Bolton, Stow, Clinton Marlboro and Framingham.  It is one of the largest open-air shopping centers in central Massachusetts. Other tenants of Highland Commons include Market Basket, Lowe’s, BJ’s, Cabela’s, TJ Maxx, Michaels, Bed Bath & Beyond, Pet Smart, Famous Footwear and local restaurants.
