Nearly 750 runners and walkers came out to The Thoreau Club in Concord on June 10th for a day of family fun to help those with cancer in the community. This was the largest and most successful Run~Walk yet, thanks to the terrific support from the community and local businesses.

“Emerson’s 17th annual 5k Run~Walk for Cancer was a spectacular day filled with family fun and support for those in our community who are affected by cancer,” said Christine Schuster, President and CEO of Emerson Hospital. “We are extremely grateful to all of the participants and local businesses that participated in setting a new fundraising record. Proceeds from this year’s Run~Walk will be used for integrative therapies for our cancer patients that promote healing, including Reiki, massage, music therapy, and acupuncture. Many of our patients remark that it is the combination of our top clinicians using the latest cancer treatments and the integrative therapies that put them on a course for good health.”

This year’s Run~Walk event included a timed 5k run, a one-mile Fun Run, a 5K walk and a tot trot. Following the awards ceremony, families participated in activities including swimming, tie-dying, ice cream from Kimball Farm, bounce houses, music and more.
