The community is invited to a free, educational program about marijuana and CBD on Thursday, March 28 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Emerson Hospital, Cheney Conference Room, 133 Old Road to Nine Acre Corner, Concord, MA. Panelists will provide information on marijuana and CBD and answer questions such as: What is it? How does it impact the brain and body? Are there medical benefits? Is there a safe consumption amount for daily functioning? Volunteers Needed for Spring Vacation Bike Camp in Groton
Volunteers are needed during April school vacation week, April 15 -19, to assist at a learn-to-bike camp at Lawrence Academy in Groton for children with special needs. Emerson Hospital’s Clough Family Center for Rehabilitative and Sports Therapies is hosting the fifth annual camp, called iCan Shine, which is open to children who are at least eight years old who have special needs and are able to walk without an assistive device. Trained counselors and volunteer spotters will work with campers throughout the week to teach them how to ride a conventional bike.
“Little Hands, Big Hearts” Valentine’s Crafting Event on February 12
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, the Auxiliary of Emerson Hospital invites families with young children to participate in a free Valentine crafting party on Tuesday, February 12. At “Little Hands, Big Hearts,” all the Valentine trimmings will be provided to make special handmade cards that will be given to patients at Emerson Hospital on Valentine’s Day.
Drop Off Box for Prescription Medications Now Available at Emerson Hospital
Thanks to a gift from the Auxiliary of Emerson Hospital, Emerson now has a MedSafe kiosk where anyone can safely drop off their unused or expired medications any time of day or night. The box is located in the hallway of Emerson’s Emergency Department, located at 133 Old Road to Nine Acre Corner, Concord. MedSafe safely disposes of the medications so they will not harm the environment. Dropping off unused prescriptions will help ensure a safe community. Babies Born at Emerson Hospital Go Home with New Sleep Sacks
Beginning this month and to commemorate October’s SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) Awareness month, babies born at Emerson Hospital will be going home with new sleep sacks. The sleep sacks are a gift from the Auxiliary of Emerson Hospital to help provide a safe and comfortable sleeping experience. Sleep sacks have been proven to be safe for sleeping babies and reduce hip dysplasia in infants, a condition where the baby’s hip joint is dislocated, which can result in a limp and pain during movement.
EmerSong – An A Cappella Festival on March 10 to Benefit Emerson Hospital Program to Help Reduce Opioid Misuse
The Auxiliary of Emerson Hospital is pleased to present its second annual EmerSong – an A Cappella Festival – to benefit Emerson Hospital’s pain stewardship pharmacy program, aimed to prevent opioid addiction. The community is invited to attend EmerSong on Saturday, March 10 from 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. at Kerem Shalom, 659 Elm Street in Concord.
