Ginger Dries Receives Outstanding Volunteer Award at Emerson Hospital
Thirty-five years ago, long-time Westford resident Ginger Dries, was looking for a way to help people. She was a substitute teacher in the local public schools and tutored students on the side. However, she wanted a way to give even more back to the community that she loves. She started to volunteer at Emerson Hospital in 1983. “I loved it and made great friends with other volunteers and the people I worked with at the hospital. I have not stopped since.”

As part of its focus on providing high-quality healthcare to the community, which includes creative arts to inspire wellness, Emerson Medical at Sudbury is continuing its Art Exhibit series. The latest exhibit features colorful photography by Wayne Hall, a Sudbury resident and outdoor photographer. The exhibit is on display through August, 2018 on multiple levels of Emerson’s medical office building located at 490 Boston Post Road, Route 20 in Chiswick Park, Sudbury.

Does your child have a hard time falling asleep? Staying asleep? Join Dr. Gary Stanton, neurologist and sleep medicine expert at Emerson Hospital, on Wednesday, May 30 from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. for an important discussion on sleep and children’s health. Topics will include the importance of sleep, tips for helping children fall asleep and stay asleep, common childhood sleep disorders, ways to screen for sleep disorders and pediatric sleep testing.

Emerson Hospital 5k Run~Walk for Cancer on June 9 To Help Neighbors Living With Cancer
Registration is now open for this year’s Emerson Hospital 5k Run~Walk for Cancer. The popular event brings together runners, walkers, and families from all of the surrounding towns to support cancer patients who are treated at the Mass General Cancer Center at Emerson Hospital — Bethke. Run~Walk will take place rain or shine at The Thoreau Center, 275 Forest Ridge Road in Concord on Saturday morning, June 9.

Freedom from Smoking Clinics Offered at Emerson Hospital Quit Smoking Support Group Begins this April
Quitting smoking is not as easy as it sounds. It often takes multiple attempts for people to quit and the most effective ways are with the support of others who are working to stop smoking too. Starting Monday, April 23, Emerson Hospital will be hosting a Freedom from Smoking® group clinic to help people learn how to overcome tobacco addictions and enjoy the benefits of better health, extra money and healthier relationships. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an individual’s risk of coronary heart disease drops to half that of a smoker’s just one year after they quit smoking.
